Mitchell was also asked if she felt any pressure to co우리카지노ach a team that has lost 10 starters this season.
« I would say it’s tough because Coach Williams’s coaching is so young and there are so many guys that have been great since he has been here. And we know that he will be back, » Mitchell said.
Mitchell also said there are already too many veterans on the team who have not gotten time together.
And while she says she has faith that Williams can work with her, she said she wants a chance to win before she even tries to become a coach.
When asked if she believes she will ever be an NBA head coach, Mitchell said, « I will take on the challenge that I think is very hard at any level. I think it is too difficult. »
Mitchell said Williams is a « hard worker, » « a great teacher, » and « the leader that I want in my young athletes. »
In addition to her time at Virginia Tech, Mitchell spent five years as a graduate assistant at North Carolina State before entering coaching again at Tennessee from 2004-06, winning nine games. During that stretch she guided Tennessee to three NCAA Tournament berths, as well as two national championships, the last of which was in 2008.
When asked if she’d ever had to leave Tennessee to coach the U.S. Open, Mitchell said, « I do not have the luxury of leaving, » adding « when there’s a team out there that is missing its leader it does not come up that often. »
Mitchell was then asked if Williams had any advice for her to give in coaching again.
« Coach Williams will teach me a lot, » Mitchell said.
The three-time national coach of the year was also asked if she was ready to leave U.S. women’s soccer, where she’s coached since 1998.
