Opposition call for crackdown on taxpayer funded ‘wasteful’ wind farms
Queensland Opposition Leader Annastacia Palaszczuk says government plans to ban « wasteful » wind farms are « a step in the right direction ».
The state Government says its « green belt » policy aims to encourage conservation and « help the people of Western Australia to reduce their energy use ».
That has included building wind farms.
Ms Palaszczuk says the decision to ban them was taken out of « concern for the environment », and that it was not meant to « cut out all energy » from the state.
« It is the opposite, you can’t cut out all energy from the state and we슬롯 머신 are very proud that the wind farms that are here can play a role in reducing our dependence on fossil fuels, reduce our dependency on coal and nuclear and reduce our dependence on hydroelectricity, » she said.
But wind farm developer David Sheldrick says that is simply not true.
« Any industry that has a major impact on the environment needs some regulation of that impact and that’s what the state government does, not against that industry, but on the industry themselves, » he said.
Opposition environment spokesman Jim Chalmers says Ms Palaszczuk’s opposition is simply an attempt to save face.
« What’s happened is she’s basically been asked this question, which is, ‘Why can’t we spend our taxpayer money to provide clean energy to citizens in Western Australia?’ and she’s responded, ‘We can’t’, » he said.
« In her view there is something wrong here with how we get our energy supplies from the coal, gas and oil regions, and she seems to be confused about whether that’s being achieved through renewable energy or not. »

Environmental and health advocates say renewable energy is being left to die
The ABC has obtained documents showing environmental groups have been told by the Greens in the past that any clean-energy policy aimed at cutting emiss온 카지노ions has to be based around the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from burning fossil fuels.
Environmental advocate에스엠 카지노s are still left to wonder why some in the renewables industry are arguing that the government’s green belt policies are a good thing in the long run.
« We really haven’t got any information out there or any evidence from anybody about what the outcome is going to be in terms of greenhouse gas emissions
